A plot is the course or arrangement of events in a narrative. In a narrative, there are five traditional characteristics of a plot:

1. Conflict: where the antagonist and protagonist are described

2. Exposition (plot device): All the past details leading up to the conflict are revealed

3. Rising action: the events leading to the climax

4. Climax (narrative): the "turning point" for the protagonist

5. Resolution: the resolution of the coflict between the antagonist and protagonist.
