Jetliner

From Encyclopedia Jr, free information reference for Kids

This article is about the alternative rock band Jetliner. For jet-engine airliners, see Jet airliner.

Jetliner is an alternative rock band from the USA, focusing on melodic piano-based rock. They are sometimes compared to Queen and early Elton John, being heavily influenced by early 70s rock. Much of their guitar work is reminiscent of Brian May.

The group is comprised of Adam Paskowitz on piano and lead vocals, Jeff Kluesner on guitar, 'The Duke' on the organ, Matt McKenna on bass and Rob Jones on drums. All members sing backing vocals much like Queen.

To quote Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols - I like bands that have a concept, a bit of drama. Queen is that sort of band; they had complex songs with a lot of parts to them. Jetliner is that kind of band too.

Jetliner have released two albums, 'Jetliner' and 'Space Station'. 'Space Station' is set to be released in Europe in the spring of 2006.

[edit] Comparisons

'Little Steps', from 'Jetliner' is reminiscent of the sound of Elton John. 'The Reaction' from 'Space Station' refers to "Tie Your Mother Down" by Queen, with the opening guitar riff being very similar. 'Space Station' contains a cover of "Life on Mars?" by David Bowie, showing yet another of the band's influences.
