Ingestion

Ingesting can mean;-

  • Eating The act of swallowing something through eating, drinking, or mouthing of objects. A hazardous substance can enter the body this way.
  • For a mechanism to pick up something and make it enter an internal hollow of the mechanism, such as "The cut reeds drifted downstream and some of them were ingested by the Water Company's water extraction pump, and blocked it.". See wiktionary:ingest.
