| Hemiechinus nudiventris (Horsfield, 1851) |
The Bare-bellied hedgehog (also known as Madras hedgehog) is a rare species of hedgehog either in Desert hedgehog genus or a subspecies of Indian Hedgehog. Although for some time it was considered extinct, it has been recently rediscovered and is currently observed in India at Kalakad–Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve, although further research is needed.
