Antananarivo Province

Antananarivo is a province of Madagascar with an area of 58,283 km². It has a population of 4,580,788 (July, 2001). Its capital is Antananarivo. Antananarivo literally means "City of One Thousand [people]".

Except in formal contexts this city is almost universally referred to in its abbreviated form: Tana.
